Basra: Tribal leaders and dignitaries in Basra have expressed strong opposition to American interference in Iraqi affairs. They have particularly rejected attempts to disarm the resistance and any external pressures that threaten national sovereignty and decision-making, especially in response to statements attributed to Tom Barrack.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the leaders emphasized their stance against dismantling the Popular Mobilization Forces, asserting that such decisions should be made independently by Iraq. They also voiced their disapproval of any moves to hand over Jurf al-Nasr, highlighting concerns over the potential return of terrorism to the area.
The sheikhs and dignitaries reiterated their commitment to Iraq’s sovereignty, underscoring the country’s right to ensure its security. They called for the prevention of any external entities from meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs or imposing their agendas on national decisions.
