Baghdad: The office of Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, firmly denied any claims of understandings or agreements to relinquish the Interior Ministry portfolio.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hisham al-Rikabi, director of the State of Law Coalition’s office, made a statement on the X platform addressing the circulating rumors. He stated, “There is no truth to what some media outlets have reported regarding understandings or agreements concerning Nouri al-Maliki relinquishing the Interior Ministry.”

Al-Rikabi further emphasized that discussions about relinquishing the portfolio are not currently on the agenda, labeling the circulating information as inaccurate. The denial aims to clarify the coalition’s position and dispel any misinformation regarding Nouri al-Maliki’s role and responsibilities within the government.
