Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi emphasized the importance of the voluntary return of displaced families as a government commitment to resolving this issue. Al-Aboudi met with Toby Harward, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), to discuss ongoing collaboration.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the joint efforts between Iraq and the UNHCR, particularly concerning the voluntary return of displaced families to their original areas and facilitating the necessary procedures for this humanitarian concern. Discussions also included the functioning of the Al-Amal Center and the hurdles faced in the rehabilitation and reintegration of returning families into society.

Al-Aboudi reiterated during the meeting that the Iraqi government’s program includes significant provisions related to humanitarian fields, underscoring the voluntary return of displaced families as a central commitment. He acknowledged the UNHCR’s role in supporting health, education, and child protection initiatives.

Toby Harward expressed gratitude towards the National Security Advisory staff for their exceptional efforts and the strategic plans they have devised to aid in the rehabilitation and reintegration of displaced families.
