Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has received an official invitation from his Libyan counterpart, Abdul Hamid Mohammed al-Dabaiba, to visit Libya at the earliest opportunity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release that Al-Zaidi met with Taher Salem al-Baour, the envoy of the Libyan Government of National Unity who is responsible for managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with his delegation. During this meeting, Al-Zaidi received a letter from the head of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Mohammed al-Dabaiba.

The letter emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Libya. It expressed anticipation for the upcoming third session of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee, which is expected to bolster cooperation between the two nations. Furthermore, the letter included an invitation for Prime Minister Al-Zaidi to visit Libya to support joint Arab action and continue coordination and consultation to unify visions and positions in international forums concerning challenges facing the Arab region.

Al-Zaidi indicated Iraq’s determination to build robust foreign relations with its regional and international partners. He highlighted the government’s focus on cooperation and integration opportunities in economic fields, which are seen as essential for strengthening capabilities, supporting sustainable development, and increasing the foundations of positive partnership.
