Baghdad: Chief Justice Faiq Zaidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, highlighted the importance of safeguarding Iraq’s constitutional foundation as the nation marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the modern Iraqi state. He articulated the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring the state’s strength through adherence to constitutional principles, maintaining the rule of law, and securing stability via an independent judiciary that upholds rights and freedoms.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Chief Justice Zaidan emphasized the necessity of respecting constitutional jurisdictions and guaranteeing judicial independence. He asserted that these principles are crucial for preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and reinforcing public confidence in its institutions. Zaidan reiterated that the judiciary’s role as a bastion of justice is vital for the state’s prestige, which is built upon respect for its constitution, and for its strength, derived from the independence of its institutions.

Zaidan concluded by affirming the judiciary’s role in enforcing the law without discrimination. He stressed that a stable state is achieved through equal application of the law, thereby guaranteeing rights and reinforcing the nation’s institutional integrity.
