Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday his country’s readiness to negotiate with Russia on a mutual cessation of airstrikes targeting agricultural infrastructure and the energy sector. During a meeting with local and foreign journalists, Zelensky emphasized the ongoing nature of the airstrikes on Ukraine, asserting that Russian President Vladimir Putin “does not want to end the war, but rather is expanding the scope of the attacks.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Zelensky highlighted the intense Russian attacks on grain corridors and energy infrastructure in Ukraine. He expressed Ukraine’s willingness to engage in negotiations with Russia to mutually cease these attacks, aiming to protect the vital sectors of agriculture and energy.

The ongoing conflict, which began with Russia’s military offensive against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, continues amid demands from Russia for Kyiv to abandon its alliances with Western military entities. Kyiv, however, views these demands as interference in its internal affairs.
