Baghdad: The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights marked the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, paying respect to the sacrifices made by individuals in Iraq who have faced terrorism.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission emphasized the occasion as a moment to honor the memory of the martyrs, both civilians and security forces, and to express solidarity with their families and survivors. The Commission underscored that ensuring justice and support for the victims is a critical national and moral responsibility for all.

The Commission called for expediting the processing of documentation for the families of martyrs and victims, offering comprehensive support, and reinforcing transitional justice. It also highlighted the necessity of preserving national memory to document crimes and ensure accountability. Promoting a culture of tolerance and adhering to the rule of law were cited as essential steps towards building a secure and stable society.

The Commission concluded with a tribute: “May God have mercy on the martyrs of Iraq, and greetings to the steadfastness of all Iraqis.”
