Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Amin al-Atroushi met with the Australian Ambassador to discuss strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries and the issue of displaced persons in Iraqi Kurdistan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Deputy Speaker’s media office stated: “Al-Atroushi met today at his official office in Baghdad with the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Glenn Miles.”

During the meeting, they discussed parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance them in various fields to serve mutual interests. They also exchanged views on current developments in the region.

The two sides addressed several other topics and issues, including the ongoing efforts to resolve the issue of displaced persons currently residing in the Kurdistan Region – specifically in the governorates of Duhok and Erbil – and other areas of Iraq. They also discussed the political and economic situation in the country.
