Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, has called for enhanced coordination between parliament and the government to put an end to the decisions made by the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council’s Media Office released a statement noting that Adnan Faihan led a joint meeting with the Parliamentary Legal Committee to discuss the development of the legal system. The focus was on repealing outdated legislation and decisions that no longer align with the current constitutional framework. Faihan emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Legal Committee and the government to review decisions from the dissolved council and to address remaining provisions. The aim is to conclude this legal chapter by replacing existing texts with modern legislation that aligns with the Iraqi Constitution and the state’s current needs.

Additionally, the meeting covered the establishment of a schedule for prioritizing laws, particularly those related to the ministerial program and government agenda, to enhance integration between legislative and executive branches. Faihan highlighted the urgency of completing legislative files that impact state functions and citizen needs. He directed the Legislative Affairs Department and the Legal Committee to coordinate efforts to present draft laws for inclusion on the parliamentary agenda. Faihan also underscored the importance of consulting with research centers from scientific and academic institutions to incorporate expert opinions on laws requiring amendments.
