Baghdad: The Iraqi Accreditation Authority, in collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Health, convened a pivotal meeting to discuss the mechanisms for granting accreditation certificates to medical laboratories across both public and private sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this coordination meeting was spearheaded by the Director General of the Iraqi Accreditation Authority, Mohammed Aydin Omar, who highlighted the gathering’s primary aim: to streamline procedures for the accreditation of medical laboratories in Iraq. This initiative aligns with the Iraqi government’s broader health sector program directives.

Omar underscored the critical role of collaboration with the Ministry of Health in fortifying the Authority’s initiatives, which bear significant implications for citizens’ lives by enhancing the quality and dependability of laboratory processes and their outcomes. The meeting also addressed the obstacles and challenges currently impeding these efforts.

Key attendees included the Assistant Director General, Dr. Sarab Mohammed Mahmoud, Engineer Anwar Jalil Shihab from the Department of Accreditation of Inspection Bodies, Certification, and Laboratory Accreditation, alongside other representatives from the Ministry of Health.
