Baghdad: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Sayyed Ammar Al-Hakim, has asserted that the responsibility of controlling weapons within Iraq is an internal matter, specifically in terms of timing and the mechanisms involved.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Al-Hakim’s office revealed that he recently welcomed a delegation from the political and executive offices of the Al-Nujaba Movement. During this meeting, both parties exchanged greetings on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday while engaging in discussions about the current political landscape in Iraq and the surrounding region. The conversations also touched upon the effects of the ongoing war on Iraq’s economic stability.

Al-Hakim highlighted the economic challenges confronting Iraq, pointing out the significant decline in oil exports and subsequent reduction in revenue. He urged for this period to be seen as an opportunity for economic diversification, emphasizing the need to attract investments and expand export channels. Al-Hakim reiterated that the control of weapons remains an Iraqi issue, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and understanding. He acknowledged the role of factions whose weapons were pivotal in combating terrorism and paid tribute to the sacrifices made in liberating and restoring the state.
