Baghdad: The Interior Ministry has emphasized the significance of area-based security as a crucial element in preventive security work and proactive efforts to combat crime. This initiative was highlighted in a statement released on Tuesday.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Major General Miqdad Miri, Head of the Interior Ministry’s Department of Relations and Media, stated that security agencies are focused on security deployment, continuous monitoring of areas and neighborhoods, and strengthening precautionary measures to prevent crimes from occurring. These efforts involve monitoring indicators and cases that might lead to criminal activities and addressing them within legal frameworks.

Major General Miri elaborated that area-based security is not just about responding to incidents post-occurrence but is heavily reliant on proactive measures. These include gathering information, observing negative phenomena, and ensuring coordination among various security formations, all of which contribute to enhancing the security of citizens.

He further mentioned that the ministry is working on increasing response speed. In the event of a crime, swiftly detecting it and identifying those responsible is a key priority, achieved through intelligence, technical and investigative efforts, and the precise analysis of information.

Furthermore, Major General Miri highlighted the importance of cooperation between citizens and security forces, describing it as a vital factor in the success of area-based security. He urged citizens to report suspicious activities and illegal manifestations and to actively cooperate with security agencies.

He concluded by stressing that the main objective of the Interior Ministry is to create a secure environment focused on crime prevention, quick response to incidents, and strengthening citizens’ sense of security and stability.
