Baghdad: The National Security Agency has apprehended an individual accused of impersonating officials and public figures in communications with various government entities. This arrest marks a significant step in safeguarding the integrity of governmental operations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Service announced the arrest, stating that the individual had been acting under false identities to engage with government officials for personal gain. The impersonator went so far as to contact the Prime Minister, posing as a political figure to further his objectives.

The National Security Service revealed that the operation leading to the arrest was based on precise intelligence. The agency employed both field and technical surveillance methods to locate the suspect. The operation received authorization from the competent judge in Baghdad, allowing for the subsequent arrest.

During the interrogation, the individual admitted to impersonating multiple officials and public figures. The investigation uncovered that he had been previously convicted of similar offenses in 2023. Following his confession, legal procedures were initiated, and he was referred to the competent judicial authorities for further action.
