Baghdad: Foreign Ministry hosted the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadeq to seek clarification over posts related to regional maps published on the websites of some Iranian diplomatic missions abroad.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs Ambassador Shorsh Khalid Saeed met with Al-Sadeq to obtain explanations concerning the publications, as well as positions and comments accompanying them that were inconsistent with the depth of relations between the two countries.

Saeed emphasized during the meeting the importance of continued consultation and coordination between the two sides on current developments and their repercussions for countries in the region, particularly Iraq. He highlighted the necessity of addressing outstanding regional disputes and issues through diplomatic channels and dialogue in a way that contributes to strengthening regional security and stability.

The discussions also focused on enhancing bilateral relations through mutual visits and improved coordination in international forums and organizations, along with developing cooperation frameworks in political, economic, and security fields to serve the shared interests of both countries and their populations.

The Iranian ambassador reiterated his country’s readiness to continue cooperation and coordination with Iraq in various fields, emphasizing the depth of historical and social ties between the two nations and the significance of maintaining meetings and consultations on issues of mutual interest.
