Baghdad: President Nizar Amidi affirmed to the Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Joshua Harris, on Wednesday, Iraq’s keenness to develop relations and expand areas of cooperation with the United States.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Presidential Media Office stated in a press release: “President Nizar Amidi received the Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Joshua Harris, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, on the occasion of the end of his mission in Iraq.”

During the meeting, the President emphasized “Iraq’s keenness to continue developing its relations with the United States and expanding areas of bilateral cooperation, in accordance with the provisions of the Strategic Framework Agreement between the two countries, and to strengthen partnership and coordination on issues of mutual interest.”

He expressed “his high appreciation for the efforts made by Harris during his tenure in Iraq,” wishing him “success in his future endeavors.”

For his part, the US Charg© d’Affaires expressed his “thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic for the support and cooperation he received during his time in Iraq,” stressing “the importance of continuing joint work to develop relations between the two countries and expand the horizons of cooperation in a way that serves mutual interests.”
