Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi affirmed on Wednesday that the government is keen to strengthen relations with all countries of the world, particularly neighboring and regional states. Al-Aboudi received the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Anan, at his office, the National Security Advisor’s media office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

According to Iraqi News Agency, both parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and their friendly peoples, continuing collaboration in counterterrorism, securing borders, and exchanging information, to enhance the security and stability of both countries and the region. Al-Aboudi highlighted that “the relationship with Turkey is a crucial, important, and comprehensive one,” emphasizing that “the government of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi is keen to strengthen relations with all countries of the world, especially those in the region and neighboring states,” explaining that “establishing security and stability in the region will positively impact the process of sustainable development and economic recovery.”

In response, the Turkish ambassador expressed his country’s support for the Iraqi government’s promising program, stressing cooperation in areas such as combating terrorism and supporting economic growth and investment.
