Baghdad: The Interior Ministry emphasized the critical role of area-based security in enhancing preventive measures to avert and swiftly identify criminal activities. This initiative is seen as a cornerstone of proactive security efforts aimed at tackling crime effectively.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Major General Miqdad Miri, Head of the Interior Ministry’s Department of Relations and Media, highlighted the strategic approach undertaken by security agencies. He outlined that through strategic deployment, ongoing surveillance of various areas, and reinforced precautionary measures, the agencies aim to thwart potential crimes by closely monitoring signs and situations that might lead to unlawful acts and addressing them within legal boundaries.

He further elaborated that area-based security extends beyond mere incident response. It primarily focuses on proactive initiatives, such as information gathering, monitoring adverse trends, and fostering coordination among different security entities, thereby si
gnificantly bolstering public safety.

Major General Miri also noted that the ministry is focused on enhancing its response time, ensuring that any crime is rapidly detected and the perpetrators swiftly apprehended. This is achieved through the effective use of intelligence, technical, and investigative resources, along with meticulous information analysis.

He underscored the pivotal role of citizen cooperation with security forces in the success of area-based security. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activities and unlawful conduct without hesitation, highlighting the importance of community involvement in security measures.

The overarching goal, as stressed by Major General Miri, is to establish a secure environment where crime is preemptively thwarted, responded to swiftly when it occurs, and where citizens feel secure and stable.
