Erbil: The Interior Minister of the Kurdistan Region has assured the head of the Integrity Commission that the region will not become a refuge for corrupt individuals. During a meeting with the Integrity Commission’s head, Mohammed Ali al-Lami, Interior Minister Reber Ahmed Khalid emphasized the region’s commitment to law enforcement and combating corruption.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting, which took place in Erbil, focused on enhancing cooperation between federal and regional institutions in law enforcement, fighting corruption, and pursuing those wanted by the judiciary. Al-Lami praised the Kurdistan Region’s collaboration in extraditing individuals wanted by the judiciary and highlighted the national duty to confront corruption and uphold the rule of law across Iraq.

Al-Lami underscored the importance of protecting public funds and state resources, calling for unified efforts to promote integrity and respect for the law. He reassured the Iraqi people that corrupt individuals cannot evade justice, with arrest and extradition being the consequences awaiting them. The head of the commission stressed the need for strengthened coordination in law enforcement and executing judicial orders, commending the Kurdistan Regional Government for its role in extraditing individuals charged with corruption.

The necessity of collective efforts and popular support to apprehend corrupt individuals was emphasized, ensuring they find no sanctuary to escape justice. Al-Lami also highlighted ongoing efforts to streamline procedures, ensuring that geographical distances do not hinder cooperation between the central government and the Kurdistan Region.

Minister Reber Ahmed reiterated the Kurdistan Regional Government’s commitment to working with the federal government to establish security and stability, fostering an environment conducive to development and investment. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with oversight and judicial bodies to enforce the law and execute arrest warrants, thereby safeguarding national resources and reinforcing the rule of law.
