Erbil: The head of the Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali al-Lami, affirmed the necessity of high-level coordination between oversight bodies at both central and regional levels to protect public funds. The statement underscores the critical need for collaborative efforts in the fight against corruption within Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Integrity Commission released a press statement revealing that Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, met with Mohammed Ali al-Lami, the head of the Federal Integrity Commission. During the meeting, Barzani highlighted the importance of supporting the anti-corruption campaign while ensuring the protection of public funds.

Al-Lami reiterated that safeguarding public funds requires seamless coordination between federal oversight bodies and those in the Kurdistan Region. He stressed the importance of applying justice impartially, without any red lines, to effectively combat corruption.

Further, al-Lami pointed out that integrating roles between Baghdad and Erbil in this initiative not only fortifies the rule of law but also creates a secure environment conducive to investment. The emphasis on coordination reflects a strategic approach to strengthening governance and enhancing economic stability in the region.
