Moscow: The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, during which they discussed the current situation and prospects for developing bilateral relations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Kremlin statement highlighted that Putin reaffirmed Russia’s principled position supporting Syria’s unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. The conversation underscored the mutual commitment of both nations to deepen their political dialogue and cooperation across various sectors, including economic and humanitarian fields.

Furthermore, both leaders emphasized the significance of the memorandum of understanding concerning the reorganization of the Hmeimim and Tartus bases, which are pivotal to their strategic military cooperation.
