Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, led an extensive meeting with the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, which included its chairman, members, and representatives from various security services. The meeting focused on discussing critical legislation related to security, combating cybercrime, and issues concerning the Popular Mobilization Forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Faihan’s office revealed that the discussions centered on several key laws and files aimed at enhancing security and protecting both society and state institutions. Among the primary topics were the proposed law on combating cybercrimes, legislation concerning the service and retirement of Popular Mobilization Forces members, the service law for internal security forces, and the military service law.

Faihan emphasized the necessity of swiftly adopting a comprehensive legal framework to combat cybercrimes. This framework aims to protect citizens, families, and state institutions from technological misuse by establishing clear legal regulations. He mentioned that Parliament had reached out to the Prime Minister’s office to expedite the submission of the draft law regarding the service and retirement of Popular Mobilization Forces members, which is anticipated to be presented in the coming days. This law is intended to regulate the operations of the Popular Mobilization Forces and ensure the protection of its members’ rights.

The First Deputy Speaker also instructed the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee to accelerate the procedures related to the Internal Security Forces Service and Retirement Law No. (18) of 2011 and the Military Service Law of 2010. He further announced that Parliament plans to conduct a special session soon, inviting security officials to discuss future security preparations in light of the withdrawal of foreign forces.
