Karbala: The advisor to the Speaker of Parliament for Media, Cultural, and Artistic Affairs, Jaafar Alwanan, visited the headquarters of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate branch in the holy city of Karbala and met with the branch president and members.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Alwanan was received by the branch president, Hussein Al-Ulayani, and several members. Al-Ulayani welcomed the visit and reviewed the branch’s most prominent activities and the nature of its work, as well as the most significant obstacles and challenges facing journalists, foremost among them the issue of land allocation.

The meeting also addressed the unique circumstances of the holy city of Karbala, which witnesses millions of pilgrims and receives large numbers of visitors from around the world. This influx places significant media and professional responsibilities on journalists, requiring the provision of necessary support and facilities to enable them to cover these events.

Alwanan commended the efforts of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate branch in Karbala and its role in organizing the affairs of the journalistic community and strengthening communication and cooperation between journalists and relevant institutions. He emphasized his concern for journalists, especially veteran journalists, and the need to provide a suitable professional and healthy environment for all those working in the field, and to address the obstacles they face, in order to support their careers and enhance their role in serving society.
