East jerusalem: Suleiman Mansour, the renowned Palestinian artist celebrated for his influential work “The Camel of Burdens,” has passed away at the age of 79. Mansour died in a hospital in East Jerusalem, as confirmed by his family and the Palestinian Ministry of Culture.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mansour’s family expressed their profound sorrow, stating, “The final chapter has been written. With hearts filled with indescribable sorrow, we announce that our beloved father has departed this world.” They further emphasized the lasting impact of his art and legacy, describing him as a source of love, strength, and refuge.

Mansour’s contributions to art were noted by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, which recognized him as “one of the most important pillars of contemporary Palestinian art, whose artistic experience over decades has formed part of the Palestinian visual and national memory.” His painting, “The Camel of Burdens,” stands as a testament to his creative prowess and has garnered international recognition. This iconic piece depicts an elderly Palestinian porter bearing the city of Jerusalem on his back, prominently featuring the Dome of the Rock mosque.
