Tribal Clash Erupts Over Children’s Dispute in Al-Shuaiba


Basra: A minor altercation between children spiraled into a tribal clash in the Al-Shuaiba area of Basra, leading to the arrest of a suspect by the anti-crime unit. The incident has raised concerns about the potential for minor conflicts to escalate into violence.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Basra police detained a suspect who allegedly used a machine gun, inciting fear and panic among local residents. The Basra Governorate Police Command issued a statement revealing that the father of one of the children involved in the initial dispute resorted to gunfire during the clash. The altercation, which took place in the Al-Zubair district, highlighted the serious consequences of escalating minor disputes.



The police command’s statement detailed that the Criminal Investigation Department successfully apprehended the suspect after thorough monitoring and information gathering. The operation also led to the confiscation of a BKC machine gun, which was reportedly used to intimidate residents in the area. The statement affirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect.
