Baghdad: The Ministry of Culture is planning to develop five archaeological sites in each governorate and transform them into tourist destinations. The Acting Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, announced the ministry’s plan to rehabilitate these sites, aiming to revitalize the tourism sector and enhance service levels for visitors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani stated in a press release today that the ministry is also working to streamline visa procedures for tourists. He emphasized that Iraq’s current security stability is a significant attraction for tourists globally.

Al-Sudani highlighted that developing the tourism sector is a shared national responsibility that requires integrated efforts between ministries and local governments. He explained that Iraqi tourism primarily relies on two pillars: religious tourism and archaeological tourism.
