Baghdad: The Federation of Industries recently engaged in discussions with a parliamentary committee to address the challenges and obstacles currently facing the industrial sector in Iraq. The meeting aimed to find solutions that would enhance the growth and efficiency of local industries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Border Crossings and National Product Protection Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, led by MP Kazem al-Shammari, hosted Adel Akab, the head of the Iraqi Industries Union. The meeting also included several members of the advisory board and various industrialists who are directly impacted by the current industrial climate.

The discussions primarily focused on the hurdles faced by companies and factories, particularly concerning the importation of production lines, equipment, and industrial machinery. Additionally, the meeting addressed the challenges project owners encounter at the General Authority of Customs, which have been hindering operational efficiency and growth in the sector.

The committee highlighted the necessity of devising practical solutions to streamline procedures within the private industrial sector. The goal is to enhance local production capabilities, strengthen the investment and industrial environment, protect national products, and ultimately generate job opportunities for the Iraqi population.
