Baghdad: The Ministry of Industry and Minerals is spearheading efforts to address air pollution caused by industrial activities by organizing a workshop focused on the applications of nanomaterials. The workshop, titled “Nanomaterials and Their Applications in Treating Air Pollution Caused by Industrial Activities,” is a collaborative effort led by the Department of Industrial Development and Organization, in conjunction with the Training and Qualification Department under the Administrative and Financial Directorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the workshop saw participation from a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Ministry’s Scientific Advisor and Head of the Ministerial Nanotechnology Team, Ammar Abdullah Hamad Al-Janabi. Attendees also included employees and officials from the Environment and Occupational Safety Departments, alongside scientific and engineering staff from the Ministry and its affiliated entities.

During the event, the advisor highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to integrating modern technologies, such as nanotechnology, to mitigate industrial pollution. This commitment aligns with both national and international environmental standards, aiming to enhance environmental sustainability.

The primary focus of the workshop was to introduce the latest advancements in nanomaterial technologies and explore their potential in reducing industrial emissions. This initiative supports the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to lessen the environmental and health impacts associated with industrial activities, ultimately contributing to the well-being of society.
