Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Thursday that Muslim countries should prevent their territories from being used for launching attacks against fellow Muslim nations. This declaration was made during the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, where he emphasized that defending Iran does not equate to hostility towards Muslim or neighboring nations.

According to TRTworld.com, Pezeshkian stressed that no Islamic country should allow its land to serve as a base for aggression against another Islamic nation. He added that seeking security should not come at the expense of a neighbor’s insecurity. The president’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions and conflicts involving the United States and Israel, which he claims have targeted Iran through military attacks while diplomatic negotiations were still ongoing.

Pezeshkian highlighted that these negotiations between Iran and the US had resumed in an attempt to resolve their differences diplomatically. However, the talks were overshadowed by aggressive actions that resulted in the loss of Iranian lives, including commanders, officials, scientists, students, and civilians, as well as damage to cities and infrastructure.

The conference, attended by around 600 domestic and international guests from 40 countries such as Iraq, Pakistan, Trkiye, Lebanon, and Afghanistan, will continue through Sunday. Events are being held in various cities, including Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, along with four specialized meetings in West Azerbaijan, Kordestan, Golestan, and Razavi Khorasan provinces.
