Maysan: The Maysan Health Department has addressed circulating social media claims regarding the presence of bacteria in the governorate’s drinking water, affirming that laboratory tests confirm the water’s safety. The department stated that its monitoring and laboratory teams are conducting routine tests on drinking water across all water projects, adhering to health guidelines and regulations set by the Ministry of Health.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Maysan Health Department announced that recent laboratory test results showed no increase in indicators of bacterial growth or the emergence of new or dangerous bacteria. Additionally, no cases of poisoning linked to drinking water were reported during the specified period, as per the department’s health data.

The department noted that health monitoring teams maintain continuous coordination with the Maysan Water Department to promptly address any issues requiring follow-up. This includes monitoring sterilization processes and addressing any problem sources to ensure the ongoing safety of water supplied to residents.

Furthermore, the department denied any confirmed cases of hospital admissions or patient visits related to drinking water contamination during the same period. It emphasized the importance of ongoing field testing and monitoring, ensuring that any results not meeting health standards are thoroughly and immediately investigated with relevant authorities to safeguard public health.

The Maysan Health Department urged citizens to rely on information from competent health authorities and to report any observations or documented information regarding drinking water.
