Baghdad: Former Finance Minister Taif Sami Mohammed categorically denied on Friday reports circulating about her inclusion on any US terrorism watch list or her designation as a terrorist.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Sami stated, “I have been following the statements and allegations circulating about me, including information regarding my travel outside Iraq, as well as other information and allegations concerning my inclusion on US terrorism watch lists, and the resulting restrictions on my entry into the United States.”

She added, “What has been circulating in this regard is untrue. I am currently in Iraq and have not left the country, as has been claimed.”

Sami denied being barred from entering Washington during her previous tenure to attend meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank before her retirement, stating, “I have no intention of traveling to Washington after my retirement.”

She emphasized, “I have not been summoned by any court, nor have I received any legal notification in this regard, contrary to what is being circulated in some media outlets and on social media platforms.”

She categorically denied “the rumors circulating about my inclusion on any US terrorism watch list or my classification on any terrorism lists. What is being said about me being banned from entering the United States is nothing more than political statements representing the positions of members of Congress.”

She affirmed that what is being published in this regard is not based on any information or official documents issued by a competent authority.

She concluded by saying, “I reserve all my legal rights against any entity or person proven to have intentionally published false or misleading information about me, and I will take appropriate legal action in accordance with the law.”
