Diyala: Diyala University is gearing up to host the practical component of the second training course for the National Evaluation Team for Science Program Accreditation. The course, organized by the National Council, will feature a select group of academic professors and candidates who aim to join the National Evaluation Team.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this initiative is part of the National Council’s broader strategy to build a specialized national team equipped with the scientific competence and professional skills necessary for evaluating academic programs in line with national accreditation standards. The course seeks to foster a culture of quality and academic accreditation while advancing educational programs and enhancing their outcomes within Iraqi higher education institutions.
The theoretical phase of the course has already concluded, featuring seven training modules that addressed essential aspects of scientific program evaluation. These modules covered topics such as educational program introduction, national evaluator qualities, program objectives, learning outcomes and assessments, curriculum development, continuous improvement, and support systems including students, faculty, and administrative resources. The training also emphasized evidence collection and verification, evaluator skills, and procedures for drafting the final evaluation team report. These components aim to equip participants with a thorough understanding of the evaluation process, enabling them to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, President of Diyala University and head of the National Council, highlighted the significance of this initiative. He stated that Diyala University’s hosting of the practical training underscores its commitment to institutional partnerships that bolster higher education development projects and cultivate a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Mubarak emphasized the National Council’s dedication to training evaluators who are objective, competent, and capable of providing professional assessments that contribute to the development and enhancement of academic programs.
He further noted that Diyala University’s role in hosting this national activity aligns with its mission to support higher education development and strengthen Iraq’s quality and academic accreditation system. This effort also supports the fourth Sustainable Development Goal of quality education by improving educational quality, advancing academic programs, and building national capacities and competencies for continuous improvement in higher education institutions.
