Karbala: In an exceptional medical achievement reflecting the integration of humanitarian and therapeutic efforts, Al-Mujtaba Hospital and Warith International Hospital in the holy city of Karbala, with the support of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, successfully restored the life of Ruqayya, a child from Wasit Governorate (Al-Nu’maniyah District), enabling her to regain her speech, walking, and memory after losing them due to rare complications of leukemia.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Ruqayya’s case was considered one of the most complex medical cases in the world, given the intricate complications of the disease and its severe impact on the nervous and motor systems. The medical procedure was a resounding success after a bone marrow transplant, performed following a perfect match between the child and her brother, the donor, and thanks to the outstanding collaborative efforts of the staff at Al-Mujtaba Hospital and Warith International Hospital in the holy city of Karbala.

In a humanitarian initiative that underscores the commitment of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein to caring for those facing difficult humanitarian and health challenges, the child received completely free medical treatment and services thanks to the support of the shrine and generous donors, thus easing the burden on her family. The family of the child, Ruqayya, expressed their deepest gratitude to the medical staff and sponsoring organizations, hoping for the continuation of this humanitarian effort to save the lives of needy patients throughout Iraq.
