Chelsea and Fulham Advance to Third Round of English League Cup


London: Chelsea and Fulham have successfully advanced to the third round of the English League Cup after securing victories in their respective matches.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Chelsea triumphed over Luton Town with a 2-0 win. The breakthrough came from Chelsea’s striker Danny Welbeck, who netted the first goal in the 50th minute. The victory was sealed when Luton Town’s Hakim Odovin scored an own goal in the 79th minute, ensuring Chelsea’s progression. Chelsea, aiming for their sixth League Cup title, last won the competition in the 2014/2015 season.



Fulham also booked their place in the next round by defeating Wimbledon 3-0. Emile Smith Rowe initiated the scoring in the 37th minute, with Rodrigo Muniz doubling the lead in the 42nd minute. Gonzalo Garcia added the final goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, completing a comprehensive win for Fulham.



The draw for the third round has set up exciting fixtures, with a standout match between Liverpool and Tottenham. Defending champions Manchester City are set to play against Norwich City. Arsenal, last year’s runners-up, will travel to Ipswich Town, while Manchester United face Brighton. Chelsea will meet Leeds United, and Fulham will engage in a London derby against West Ham.
