Basra: The Basra Governorate has taken a significant step towards preserving its rich cultural landscape by issuing an administrative order to establish a permanent committee dedicated to monitoring archaeological and heritage sites throughout the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision to form this specialized committee was initiated under the directives of Governor Engineer Asaad Abdul-Amir Al-Eidani. The formation of the committee aligns with public interest requirements and follows recommendations from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. The committee will be led by Mueen Saleh Al-Hassan, the Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs, and will include representatives from municipal, archaeological, and administrative bodies.
