Deputy Governor of Basra Engages in Cooperative Talks with Finnish Diplomat


Basra: The First Deputy Governor of Basra, Engineer Zaid Al-Amara, recently convened with the Finnish Charg© d’Affaires in Iraq, Aki Kauppinen, to explore strategies for enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Finland.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions focused on expanding economic, investment, and educational cooperation. The meeting also introduced a proposal to establish a joint business forum in Basra, aimed at facilitating direct communication between Iraqi and Finnish private sectors. This initiative seeks to capitalize on Basra’s strategic position as Iraq’s economic capital and a pivotal part of the national economy.



The Deputy Governor’s media office revealed that the talks also tackled several challenges facing Iraq’s central government and explored development paths. The discussions underscored the significance of strengthening coordination and supporting international projects and partnerships. Such efforts are intended to contribute to sustainable development and open new avenues for investment and economic and educational collaboration between the two nations.
