Baghdad: The head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, affirmed Iraq’s commitment to announcing its project for full sovereignty, firmly stating that the nation will not permit any form of armed foreign presence on its soil.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Supreme Council highlighted that Sheikh Hamoudi met with Anil Bora Inan, the Turkish ambassador to Baghdad. During their discussions, they focused on regional developments, shared visions for stability, and explored prospects for cooperation between Iraq and Turkey in the security, political, and economic fields.

In the meeting, Sheikh Hamoudi pointed out that the ongoing conflict in the region, along with the threats posed by American and Israeli actions, necessitates a state of high alert and caution among all involved parties. He underscored that forming regional alliances to secure the region is crucial to preventing foreign interference and external dictates.

Sheikh Hamoudi reiterated that Iraq plans to declare its project for full national sovereignty on January 10th, emphasizing that no foreign armed forces or groups will be tolerated within the country. He expressed optimism for bolstering Iraqi-Turkish coordination to advance mutual interests.
