Baghdad: President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Wednesday Iraq’s support for dialogue in addressing regional tensions and building balanced relations based on respect for sovereignty.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Amidi received Victoria Taylor, Director of the Iraq and Syria Initiative within the Middle East Programs of the Atlantic Council, and her accompanying delegation in Baghdad. During the meeting, the President emphasized Iraq’s steadfast position in supporting dialogue and understanding to address regional challenges and activate opportunities for cooperation in areas that contribute to supporting development paths and enhancing Iraq’s presence and role in its regional and international environment.
Amidi highlighted that Iraq’s relations and positions are based on building balanced relationships grounded in respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their affairs. He noted that the current stage requires concerted efforts to find political solutions to the challenges facing the region, in a way that consolidates its security and stability.
He also pointed to the important role of research and study centers in providing insights and analyses that contribute to understanding the challenges in the region, stressing the need to continue communication and exchange views on issues of common interest.
