Baghdad: Iraq’s National Intelligence Service-INIS, in cooperation with the Interior Ministry, has arrested a foreign criminal network involved in kidnapping and extortion operations in Baghdad. The agency revealed that, through precise intelligence and field surveillance, its personnel, in coordination with the Interior Ministry’s Directorate for Combating Human Trafficking, apprehended a network comprising 10 foreign nationals who were residing illegally in the capital.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the suspects allegedly lured foreign nationals to Iraq under the guise of providing them with job opportunities. Once these individuals arrived, they were detained and subjected to torture. The network recorded the torture sessions and sent the footage to the victims’ families, demanding significant ransoms for their release.
