Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended congratulations and blessings to Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a statement that the Republic of Iraq expresses its sincere congratulations to Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his new role. The Ministry conveyed its wishes for his good luck and success in performing his new duties.
The Ministry affirmed Iraq’s support for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its role in promoting joint Islamic action. The statement expressed confidence in Sheikh Ahmed’s ability to enhance the organization’s progress, improve its performance, and strengthen solidarity and cooperation among member states, aiming to address common challenges and defend the issues of the Islamic nation.
It further explained Iraq’s commitment to continue cooperation and coordination with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and member states. This commitment is in support of the organization’s goals and principles, intended to enhance security, stability, and development, serving the common interests of the peoples of Islamic countries.
