Baghdad: Iraq has reached advanced stages in security diplomacy, as confirmed by Lieutenant General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell (SMC). He emphasized that security diplomacy is key to addressing several security issues, asserting the need for a sovereign and unified national security decision.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Maan spoke to Al-Iraqiya News Channel, highlighting the significant role of figures and experts in advancing Iraq’s security diplomacy. He clarified that security diplomacy aims to preserve sovereignty through cooperation, coordination, and agreements, rather than compromising it.
Maan further explained the importance of state authority over force, the legal operation of weapons, and unified sovereign national security decisions. He noted that Iraq has transitioned from debating whether issues can be addressed to focusing on the mechanisms for implementing solutions. He underscored that various options and mechanisms are available to achieve effective resolution and impact.
