Madrid: Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho insisted his team did not deserve to lose against Real Betis, despite their defeat in the third round of La Liga. The Portuguese coach suffered his first loss of the season in his second stint as Real Madrid manager, in a match that saw him protest the refereeing decisions and receive his first yellow card.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Mourinho spoke about Real Madrid’s performance, saying: “I think the team played a great match. Sometimes you lose without knowing why. It’s inexplicable. We completely dominated the game thanks to two strong center-backs who controlled everything, and the numerous attacks and chances. If the match had ended in a draw, we would have been disappointed. Imagine how we felt after the defeat.”

Mourinho addressed the substitutions he made during the match, emphasizing that they were not due to dissatisfaction with the players’ performance. He said: “The team has always performed well. Betis launched some counter-attacks, as usual, but the match belonged to Real Madrid.”

Regarding referee Hernandez Hernandez’s performance, Mourinho stated: “I don’t know why I received the yellow card, but it wasn’t bad. I got up because one of the Betis players looked like he was in a difficult situation. But I can’t comment on the penalty decision or the disallowed goal; I didn’t see them and I can’t say anything.”
