Iraq and Turkey Commit to Enhanced Coordination on Shared Regional Issues


Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, on Sunday. During the meeting, al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of elevating Iraqi-Turkish relations to broader levels of cooperation and partnership, in light of the positive outcomes of his visit and meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. This visit resulted in the signing of several memoranda of understanding and agreements in the economic, developmental, energy, water, transportation, and trade sectors, all aimed at achieving common interests and supporting opportunities for development and prosperity in the region.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting also stressed the need to continue coordination and consultation on shared issues, particularly given the current challenges and circumstances facing the region, and to work towards supporting dialogue and diplomatic efforts to protect regional and international security and stability.
