Cairo: Egypt and Pakistan have jointly emphasized the necessity of resuming the implementation of a crucial interim agreement aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict between Iran and Iran. This development follows a telephone conversation between Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel-Aty, and Pakistan’s Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the ministers discussed regional issues and strategies to de-escalate tensions and restore peace. The discussions focused on reinstating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, initially signed on June 18, 2016, between the United States and Iran. The ministers underscored the importance of a comprehensive agreement that could bolster regional security and prevent the conflict from widening.

The ministry’s statement further revealed that both ministers concurred on the need for sustained bilateral consultation and coordination. They also highlighted the significance of the Quartet Mechanism, which includes Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. This framework aims to unify efforts and mitigate military and political tensions, thereby promoting stability and security across the region.
