Karbala: Karbala police have apprehended a sorcerer accused of blackmailing a woman and stealing 176 million dinars. The Karbala Police Department’s Anti-Crime Office made the arrest after a complaint was lodged against the suspect for practicing sorcery and witchcraft.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the police statement revealed that the suspect extorted 176 million dinars from the victim and used three promissory notes totaling 190 million dinars as leverage to maintain the extortion. The Anti-Crime Department placed the suspect under surveillance, gathered information, and confirmed the accuracy of the allegations against him.

Further investigations uncovered additional charges against the suspect, including the assault of two girls. The police have taken the necessary legal measures, and the suspect has been referred to the judiciary for prosecution.
