Iranian Revolutionary Guard Claims Missile Strike on US Navy Vessels in Persian Gulf

Tehran: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced early Sunday morning that its Aerospace Force targeted a US Navy aircraft carrier and destroyer with ballistic missiles. The Guard accused the American vessels of harassing Iranian ships and participating in a naval blockade in the Persian Gulf.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Revolutionary Guard stated in a statement carried by the Tasnim News Agency that the two warships were forced to leave the area of engagement and flee after sustaining damage and fearing further attacks. The statement emphasized the potential for future confrontations, asserting that “if the hostile actions and American transgressions continue, the US administration should expect a harsh and crushing response from the Iranian armed forces.”

Earlier on Saturday, the Revolutionary Guard announced that its naval forces had targeted three oil tankers, claiming they were “following an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz,” in addition to three US ships. This incident marks an escalation in the already tense relations between Iran and the United States, highlighting the volatile situation in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.
