Baghdad: The Minister of Transport, Wahab al-Hassani, officially opened the new administrative complex of the General Company for Land Transport, marking its completion in terms of technical readiness and office furnishing. This significant development was brought to life by the engineering and technical personnel of the General Company for Transport Projects, achieving a full 100% completion.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry announced that al-Hassani inaugurated the complex alongside the distribution of residential land deeds to employees, retirees, and senior citizens. This distribution is part of the ministry’s initiative to promote social welfare and support the employment entitlements of its staff. During the ceremony, al-Hassani highlighted the government’s priority of providing suitable housing for staff, emphasizing that it is crucial for ensuring a decent standard of living and boosting morale, which in turn enhances service quality.
The General Company for Land Transport stated that this initiative marks the first of its kind since the company was established in 1970. The distribution involved 663 title deeds for residential plots, each sized at 300 square meters, located in the Quraish area south of Baghdad. The allocation process was carried out based on preference, a points system, and years of service to ensure fairness and priority among the beneficiaries.
The company further detailed that the land distribution followed ministerial directives, with the company purchasing the land and transferring ownership to beneficiaries at subsidized prices. Payment options were facilitated through easy installments spread over ten years to accommodate the beneficiaries.
The statement also described the new administrative complex, which includes five floors, a ground floor, and a basement for vehicle parking. It serves as a comprehensive administrative and logistical hub, managing institutional operations, monitoring truck movements domestically and internationally, and overseeing trade exchange areas and border crossings across various governorates.
