Baghdad: The Director of the Commander-in-Chief’s Office, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, has stressed the importance of expanding intelligence cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted this need during a high-level security meeting aimed at discussing mechanisms for improved field coordination and military cooperation between the two forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of al-Shammari released a statement outlining the meeting’s agenda, which focused on several critical security issues. Key among these was the situation at border crossings and the operations of border units in the Kurdistan Region, with an emphasis on ensuring stricter control to prevent smuggling and infiltration.

The statement further elaborated that discussions were held on enhancing cooperation in combating drug trafficking and dismantling drug networks. It also mentioned the development of operational mechanisms within joint coordination centers to facilitate quicker exchange of intelligence.

Additionally, al-Shammari underscored the importance of securing international borders, conducting joint training exercises, and ensuring the judiciary processes individuals wanted by the law. These measures were part of a broader strategy to deepen intelligence collaboration between the central government and the Kurdistan Region.
