Basra: A purse snatcher who used a motorcycle to commit his crimes in Basra has been apprehended. Basra police successfully arrested a suspect for stealing women’s handbags, a crime that had been causing concern among residents.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Governorate Police Command released a statement on Sunday confirming the arrest. The statement detailed that detachments from the Basra Police Station were able to capture a suspect wanted under Article (446) for the theft of women’s handbags. The suspect had been using a motorcycle to increase the speed of his getaways after committing the thefts.

The police statement further noted that all necessary legal measures have been taken against the suspect, marking a significant step in addressing such crimes in the city.
