Baghdad: President Nizar Amedi received the family of Brigadier General Hisham Al-Salmani at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad on Sunday, honoring the officer’s sacrifice and reaffirming the state’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of families who lose loved ones in the line of duty.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement that ‘Al-Salmani was killed while performing his duty. President Amedi said the sacrifices of Iraq’s fallen will remain etched in the memory of the Iraqi people, stressing that honoring their memory requires continued efforts to protect the country, confront terrorism and crime, and pursue those responsible for targeting Iraqis and hold them accountable under the law’.
‘He also pledged continued state support for the families of those killed in service, including the assistance they need in recognition of what their loved ones gave for Iraq’s security and the safety of its citizens,’ the statement added.
The family thanked the president for the warm reception and his attention to the families of the fallen, expressing appreciation for his efforts to safeguard their rights and stand by them.
