Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi affirmed that strengthening Parliament does not weaken the government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Faihan’s media office indicated that he emphasized this point during a meeting with several public figures. He stated that Parliament is committed to passing laws that directly impact people’s lives, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of the Iraqi state. This includes efforts to open up to the world, support the government’s anti-corruption initiatives, confront various challenges, and establish Iraq as a balanced state with cooperative international relations.

Faihan expressed his aspiration for Parliament to continue its legislative work, ensuring that state institutions can effectively perform their duties without generating conflicts. He underscored that a robust Parliament does not equate to a weakened government. Instead, effective legislative and oversight authorities empower the government to better implement service programs, advance state development, strengthen foreign relations, and adequately fulfill its internal responsibilities.
